How To Progress, Profit & Prosper Through A Present Mind!

Being present or not, can mean the difference between success, stagnation, or struggle!

Most business leaders know it’s important to learn from the past and plan for the future to be successful. But what happens when mental visits to the past and future become lengthy sideshows?
And where does the present fit into the business success equation?

The amount of time each day that we’re fully present, revisiting past memories or imagining future scenarios, can mean the difference between success, stagnation, or struggle. Why?

Because progress, profit and prosperity are natural bi-products of making decisions and taking action… which only happen when our minds are squarely planted in the present!

Do you find your mind’s often ‘missing in action’ even though your body’s at work?

After packing in a full day’s work, do you ever feel like chunks of your day are missing, or that you can’t account for your lack of progress?

If you’ve had this experience, chances are, your mind went missing-in-action for a few hours, getting lost in the past or future, on and off throughout the day.

It’s like hitting pause on an exciting movie… the story doesn’t progress until you hit play again. And if you hit pause too often, or for too long, eventually you start losing the plot and have to rewind or, you lose the plot entirely and have to start the movie from scratch!

For entrepreneurs and executives, going backwards or starting again, is their worst nightmare.

Every minute you’re not present, you’re pausing progress in your business and lengthening the time it takes to achieve your goals and live the life of your dreams… because dreams are brought into reality, moment by moment, in the moment!

The cost of dwelling on the past or obsessing about the future.

What we think about when visiting our past or possible future, determines whether the process is serving us, or holding us back… because these thoughts, images and associated feelings determine the orientation of our thoughts and feelings in the present.

Pining for the ‘good ol days’ or anguishing over ‘what went wrong’ limits present options

Our past is peppered with regrets, disappointments and tragedies, as well as celebrations, victories and magical moments.

But, anguishing over what went wrong, or pining for the “good ol’ days” alters emotional states… fuelling a heavy, pessimistic and even victimised frame of mind that constricts effectiveness and resourcefulness in the present. In this state, we tend to only see the negative in our current situation, and we’re not predisposed to seeing opportunities right under our noses, or the things that are going well… which limits our options in the moment.

Obsessing about what could go wrong too often immobilizes action.

Our future presents a limitless array of possibilities that range from disappointing and frightening situations, to hugely exciting and rewarding outcomes.

However, the more business leaders obsess over the things that could go wrong or cause them pain in the future, or the more they measure themselves against what they want but don’t have now, the more dark and disturbing emotions like fear, dread and even shame, dominate their state of mind in the present. This confusion and conflict creates doubt or hesitancy when it comes to making decisions and can even immobilize them completely.

The time we spend ‘lost in space’ is time we lose in the present, to make decisions and get stuff done.

For our business this means; lost progress, missed opportunities, new risks, leaked profits, and delayed success.

How can we use the past and future to drive progress in the present moment?

We can use the past and future to make the present a richer and more rewarding experience.

Both the good and the bad from our past shapes who we are today.

Revisiting past experiences and lessons enables us to see what worked, what didn’t work, and what can be improved on… fostering wisdom that only comes with experience.

In addition, appreciating the significance of all our past experiences, enriches our experience of the present moment and puts us in a resourceful state of mind… which is where we want to be.

A compelling vision of our future keeps us inspired especially when the going gets tough.

When we peer into the future and review our goals and dreams, we gain a clearer view of the path that will lead us from here to there. With a clear destination in sight, we’re able to identify potential opportunities to capitalise on, or anticipate obstacles to avoid on the way.

A compelling vision of our desired future also serves as a beacon of light that inspires us to push through the tough times, and do what it takes to make our dreams our reality.

When used constructively and with purpose, mental journeys into our past and future add valuable context and greater meaning to what’s happening in the present.

This enables us to assess the present situation with greater insight and foresight and we can make smarter decisions in the moment. And when decisions are made we tend to take action, which builds forward momentum and ultimately… progress, profits and prosperity!

Give yourself the gift of being Present and create a richer future.

Instead of losing time, wishing for things to be like they were in the past or worrying about what might go wrong in the future, invest your time in the “RIGHT NOW”.

Because when fully present, instead of missing moments, you’d be creating richer moments. You’d be creating a richer future because your future is created by what you do in this moment.

An enriching decision transformed my experience of life and business.

Years ago, I made a conscious choice to be more present every day so that I can have even more control over shaping a future by my design and making this happen even faster.

Instead of fretting about what will happen if I run out of time, or if I don’t meet my deadline, or if I don’t reach my goals, or overanalysing scenarios that in all probability will never happen, I now immerse myself in each moment and it’s opened up a whole new universe of possibility.

Because I’m present, I’m more focused which means I get so much more done quicker, which has accelerated the growth of my businesses, while freeing up more time to indulge in the spoils of my island lifestyle.

Dreams are built on what you have right here, right now.

Everything you need to build your dream business and create your dream life, is right here, in this moment.

You can’t change the past, but you can shape the future, by taking a decisive step forward, right now. Every forward step will lead you into another moment where you can take another step. And before you know it, you’ll be looking back in amazement, as to how far you’ve come in such a short space of time.

When you live and act in the moment, you bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be. And by giving yourself permission to appreciate each moment, it makes life so much more rewarding.

Be mindful of where you’ve come from and where you want to be and choose to
‘Make THIS  Moment Matter’ by doing something right now that will move you forward swiftly!

To you making this moment matter!
